Group Triathlon Training

Are you ready to take your fitness to a new level?

12 Week Program  for Beginner/Novice Triathletes

This popular session offers women of all ages, sizes, and levels of fitness a program  focused on completing a local Sprint (approx. .25 mi swim, 11 mi. bike, 2.5 mi. run) or Olympic (.9mile swim, 24 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) distance triathlon. Our target races for this beginner group are generally women-only events, non-intimidating, and supportive of first-time or novice triathletes.

We consider you a beginner if you’ve done fewer than 3 triathlons and a novice if you’ve been in the sport less than 2 years.

In our group training program we’ll cover all of the basics of triathlon, including technique and skills instruction in all three sports, transition area logistics, what to wear, what to eat, and race day strategy.  For those of who have the time and/or desire to train more than three days a week, you’ll be provided with a 12 week calendar that gives you optional workouts to do on your own on the days we don’t meet as a group.

We’ll meet 3 times a week as a group,where you’ll be given workouts that will challenge you based on your current level of fitness.  Whenever possible, we’ll organize participants by level of fitness and experience so that everyone gets challenged and no one gets left behind.  In any case, your coaches will be there to support, challenge and encourage you throughout the program.

When and Where does the Group Training Happen?

Choose from a morning group or an evening group, depending on your schedule.  Some participants move between the morning and evening groups during a given session and we’re fine with that.  We’re based out of Mill Valley, so most of our workouts take place in beautiful and athlete friendly southern Marin (Mill Valley, Tiburon, Sausalito, San Rafael).

Practice Tri for the Marin County Triathlon – Saturday 10/7/17

Get out the pre-race jitters in a non-intimidating, coached session on the actual Marin County Tri race course.  You’ll get tips about the course, practice swimming in open water, learn how to set up your transition area, what to wear, how to pace yourself, and more.  But most of all, you’ll get to build confidence for race day, while you have fun with other athletes.

The session will be designed for beginners as well as those who want to be competitive on race day.

Prerequisite: You must be comfortable swimming 400 yds without assistance.  First time in open water is ok, but you’ll need basic swim skills such that you’re water safe.

When:   Saturday, October 7th,  noon to 2pm

A noon start time accommodates the anticipated tide schedule a the swim venue on that day.

Where:  All workouts will be on various segments of the actual race course (McNear’s Beach, San Rafael)

Fee:  $50* (does not include registration for the actual race)

* This race does offer our club a discount, so check with us before you register for the event and we may be able to get you a reduced registration fee.
